Michiko & Hatchin

About Michiko & Hatchin

Here is what Michiko & Hatchin (ミチコとハッチン) is about, retold in plain terms: an action and adventure anime by Manglobe (2008). At its core: After escaping from prison, the criminal Michiko rescues an abused girl known as Hatchin. The two are about as opposite as they come, but their fates become intertwined through the connection of a man from both their pasts.

From there, on the run from the police and Hatchin's abusive foster parents, the unlikely duo set out to find this man and ultimately discover their freedom.

As an action title, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Suzuka Oogo as Hana Morenos and Youko Maki as Michiko Malandro. This one is best suited to viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. With 22 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Manglobe is the studio behind Michiko & Hatchin, and its direction shapes everything from character design to motion. The action focus matters here: fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. A 7.6/10 score points to a dependable, well-liked series. Voice casting, including Suzuka Oogo as Hana Morenos, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. It aired in 2008, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
