About Burn Up Excess

Burn Up Excess (BURN-UP EXCESS) arrives as an action anime by AIC and Magic Bus (1997), and the premise is easy to summarize. What the story covers: Ready, aim, and fire up for another animated adventure with Team Warrior! Join rowdy Rio and her partners - the machine-gun maniac Maya, the lovely Lilica, tech talent Nanvel, guy friday Yuji, and their boss Maki - as they take on their hottest cases ever!

Also worth knowing: Mechanical insects, firefighting jewel thieves, panty raiders, sexy sheiks, and fawning fathers - there's never a dull moment when the babes of Burn Up Excess are on the job!

With action at the core, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Maya Okamoto as Maya Jingu and Yuka Imai as Rio Kinezono. Think of it as a pick for viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. The run is 13 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with AIC and Magic Bus, which means the visual identity of Burn Up Excess follows that studio's craft. Within the action category, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. With a 6.2/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Maya Okamoto as Maya Jingu, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. It aired in 1997, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
