Dr. Slump

About Dr. Slump

If you are hunting for a new comedy series, Dr. Slump (ドクタースランプ) deserves a look (1997). The setup goes like this. What the story covers: Professor Senbe Norimaki, aka Doctor Slump, is a bumbling inventor living with his wife and his out-of-control robot daughter, Arale. The trio frequently get involved in surreal adventures with the other inhabitants of their strange land, which include sentient trees and mountains, a not-so-super superman, and alien invaders that just want to go home.

With comedy at the core, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Gokuu Son, voiced by Masako Nozawa, leads the cast you will follow most closely.

Think of it as a pick for viewers who want something light between heavier series. With 74 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.
