Midori Days

About Midori Days

Here is what Midori Days (美鳥の日々) is about, retold in plain terms: a comedy, drama and ecchi anime by Studio Pierrot (2004). What the story covers: High school delinquent Seiji Sawamura is desperate to have a girlfriend, especially after being rejected by 20 girls as of late. He's afraid that he will end his life with his right hand as his only companion.

Another thread: Apparently, that doesn't change when one day when he wakes up and discovers that his right hand has become a girl named Midori Kasugano, who confesses that she has had a crush on him for the last three years.

With comedy at the core, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Voice work is led by Kishou Taniyama as Seiji Sawamura and Mai Nakahara as Midori Kasugano. This one is best suited to viewers who want something light between heavier series. With 13 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Studio Pierrot, which means the visual identity of Midori Days follows that studio's craft. The comedy focus matters here: timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Its 6.9/10 score suggests opinions are split, so it suits viewers who already like the genre. Voice casting, including Kishou Taniyama as Seiji Sawamura, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 2004, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
