Memories Off 5: Togireta Film THE ANIMATION

About Memories Off 5: Togireta Film THE ANIMATION

Here is what Memories Off 5: Togireta Film THE ANIMATION (Memories Off #5 とぎれたフィルム THE ANIMATION) is about, retold in plain terms: a drama and romance anime by Doga Kobo (2006). The setup: Kawai Haruto belongs to a cinema club to realize his dream to make his own movie. But he is losing his passion of the movie because Hina Yusuke, his best friend as well as a good rival, died all at once last year.

As things develop, one day, he crosses paths with Sendo Mahiro. She asks him to make a movie with her. Also she says that she was at the place where Yusuke died, and that he died because of her.

In a drama series like this, character writing and emotional payoff matter more than spectacle. Voice work is led by Junji Majima as Inaho Shin and Sakura Nogawa as Asuka Hina. This one is best suited to viewers who prefer story and feelings over flashy action. With 1 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Doga Kobo, which means the visual identity of Memories Off 5: Togireta Film THE ANIMATION follows that studio's craft. Within the drama category, character writing and emotional payoff matter more than spectacle. With a 5.3/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Junji Majima as Inaho Shin, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 2006, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
