Strange Love

About Strange Love

Here is what Strange Love (変) is about, retold in plain terms: a comedy and ecchi anime by Group TAC (1997). In short: Yoshida Chizuru is the sexiest co-ed in her class. Secretly, she's been appearing in TV commercials - despite the fact that learners are forbidden from working.

As things develop, one of her professors has uncovered her hidden and hopes to use this information to his advantage. Yoshida's got plans of her own, and has no intention of giving up her acting career...

In a comedy series like this, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Chizuru Yoshida, voiced by Atsuko Kichiya, leads the cast you will follow most closely. It will appeal most to viewers who want something light between heavier series. At 2 episodes in total, it is easy to plan a viewing schedule.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Group TAC, which means the visual identity of Strange Love follows that studio's craft. Because it leans on comedy, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Its 4.2/10 score suggests opinions are split, so it suits viewers who already like the genre. Voice casting, including Atsuko Kichiya as Chizuru Yoshida, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 1997, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
