Violet Evergarden

About Violet Evergarden

Violet Evergarden (ヴァイオレット・エヴァーガーデン) arrives as a drama anime by Kyoto Animation (2018), and the premise is easy to summarize. The premise: A certain point in time, in the continent of Telesis. The great war which divided the continent into North and South has ended after four years, and the people are welcoming a new generation.

More of the story: Violet Evergarden, a young girl formerly known as “the weapon”, has left the battlefield to start a new life at CH Postal Service. There, she is deeply moved by the work of “Auto Memories Dolls”, who carry people's thoughts and convert them into words. Violet kicks off her quest as an Auto Memories Doll, and comes face to face with various people's emotions and differing shapes of love.

With drama at the core, character writing and emotional payoff matter more than spectacle. Voice work is led by Yui Ishikawa as Violet Evergarden and Aya Endou as Cattleya Baudelaire. Think of it as a pick for viewers who prefer story and feelings over flashy action. At 13 episodes in total, it is easy to plan a viewing schedule.
