Yuri!!! on ICE

About Yuri!!! on ICE

Yuri!!! on ICE (ユーリ!!! on ICE) blends comedy, drama and sports by MAPPA (2016). Below is a fresh retelling of what the story is about. The setup: Yuri Katsuki makes his way to the Grand Prix ice skating competition as Japan’s top representative with his eyes on the prize. However, instead of celebrating, Yuri walks away defeated and ready to retire for good.

From there, a run-in with champion Viktor Nikiforov and rising star Yuri Plisetsky ignites a new fire within him. With the two of them close by his side, Yuri will take to the ice once more.

As a comedy title, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Voice work is led by Toshiyuki Toyonaga as Yuuri Katsuki and Kouki Uchiyama as Yuuri Plisetsky. It will appeal most to viewers who want something light between heavier series. With 12 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.
