And you thought there is never a girl online?

About And you thought there is never a girl online?

And you thought there is never a girl online? (ネトゲの嫁は女の子じゃないと思った?) arrives as a comedy anime by project No.9 (2016), and the premise is easy to summarize. At its core: The story centers on Hideki Nishimura, a young man who confessed to a person he thought was a girl online, only for that person to turn out to be a boy. He keeps this "black history" concealed and swears to never to trust a "girl" online again.

More of the story: However, one day a girl online confesses to him, and it turns out she's actually a beautiful girl named Ako Tamaki. Ako cannot tell the difference between the online realm and reality, and she is a loner who has trouble communicating. Hideki and his allies from his guild decide to work together to "correct" her.

In a comedy series like this, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Hideki Nishimura (Toshiyuki Toyonaga) and Ako Tamaki (Rina Hidaka) are two of the characters you will meet early. It will appeal most to viewers who want something light between heavier series. The run is 12 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Animation is handled by project No.9, so the studio's house style defines how And you thought there is never a girl online? looks and moves on screen. The comedy focus matters here: timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Its 6.3/10 score suggests opinions are split, so it suits viewers who already like the genre. Voice casting, including Toshiyuki Toyonaga as Hideki Nishimura, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. It aired in 2016, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
