Young Black Jack

About Young Black Jack

Young Black Jack (ヤング ブラック・ジャック) arrives as a drama anime by Tezuka Productions (2015), and the premise is easy to summarize. At its core: Young Black Jack is a prequel to Osamu Tezuka's classic manga series about a brilliant maverick doctor who practices without a license.

As a drama title, character writing and emotional payoff matter more than spectacle. Kuroo Hazama (Yuuichirou Umehara) and Kiriko (Junichi Suwabe) are two of the characters you will meet early.

It will appeal most to viewers who prefer story and feelings over flashy action. The run is 12 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Tezuka Productions is the studio behind Young Black Jack, and its direction shapes everything from character design to motion. Because it leans on drama, character writing and emotional payoff matter more than spectacle. With a 6.8/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Yuuichirou Umehara as Kuroo Hazama, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 2015, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
