Long Riders!

About Long Riders!

Long Riders! (ろんぐらいだぁす！) arrives as a comedy anime by Actas (2016), and the premise is easy to summarize. At its core: The manga follows Ami Kurata, a first year college learner with no special qualities. One day she happens to notice someone riding a folding bike, immediately falls in love with it, and uses all her savings to buy one.

Along the way, she eventually gets introduced to the world of long-distance bicycling and road racer bikes, and she forms a cycling team called Fortuna with four other female college students from the same school. Their goal is to ride in a "brevet" or long-distance event called "Fresh."

In a comedy series like this, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Ami Kurata (Nao Touyama) and Aoi Niigaki (Hiromi Igarashi) are two of the characters you will meet early. If you count yourself among viewers who want something light between heavier series, put it on your list. The run is 12 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Actas, which means the visual identity of Long Riders! follows that studio's craft. Because it leans on comedy, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Its 6.3/10 score suggests opinions are split, so it suits viewers who already like the genre. Voice casting, including Nao Touyama as Ami Kurata, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 2016, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
