Red River

About Red River

Meet Red River (天は赤い河のほとり), an action, adventure and drama anime by Tatsunoko Production (2026). Here is the premise in a nutshell. What the story covers: After a mysterious hand drags her beneath a puddle, modern Japanese teenager Yuri awakens in the Hittite Empire of the 14th century BCE. Thrust into a deadly struggle for the throne, she joins Prince Kail to fight assassins, outwit royal conspiracies, and survive a world at war.

Soon after, as her exploits earn her renown as the goddess Ishtar, Yuri needs to choose between her old life and an uncertain future.

With action at the core, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Kail Mursili (Wataru Katou) and Yuri Suzuki (Mirai Tachibana) are two of the characters you will meet early. It will appeal most to viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. The run is 18 episodes so far, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Tatsunoko Production, which means the visual identity of Red River follows that studio's craft. Within the action category, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. With a 6.2/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Wataru Katou as Kail Mursili, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 2026, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
