Log Horizon 2

About Log Horizon 2

Here is what Log Horizon 2 (ログ・ホライズン 2) is about, retold in plain terms: an action, adventure and fantasy anime by Studio DEEN (2014). The setup: After struggling to survive in a surreal existence they were without warning thrown into, Shiroe and his allies have managed to restore order to Akihabara by defending the people against the Goblins in the Zantleaf Region. After six long months with the team gaining the trust of the many guilds that use the metropolis as their home base, they has to now prepare for their unforeseen future – and a tough winter ahead.

As things develop, once shy and a little standoffish, Shiroe has stepped up and shown that he can be a great leader. Can he keep Akatsuki, Naotsugu, and the rest of the gang together as they start to have differing opinions on their future course of action? Will the clique agree to leave the safety of the holy land of Akihabara to head off to one of the other four cities and explore foreign lands of Elder Tale?

In an action series like this, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Shiroe (Takuma Terashima) and Akatsuki (Emiri Katou) are two of the characters you will meet early. If you count yourself among viewers who like fast, high-impact fights, put it on your list. The run is 25 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Animation is handled by Studio DEEN, so the studio's house style defines how Log Horizon 2 looks and moves on screen. Within the action category, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. A 7.3/10 score points to a dependable, well-liked series. On the casting side, Takuma Terashima voicing Shiroe gives the lead role a recognizable voice. Released in 2014, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
