Mangirl!

About Mangirl!

Here is what Mangirl! (まんがーる!) is about, retold in plain terms: a comedy and slice of life anime by Doga Kobo (2013). The setup: "We're going to launch a manga magazine! A team of girls with zero experience in manga editing are off and running toward their dream of creating the biggest manga magazine in Japan!

Further in, they seem to do nothing but run into problems and failures... Still they're working hard every day!

As a comedy title, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Voice work is led by Kanako Miyamoto as Hana Sasayama and Yuri Komagata as Aki Torii. This one is best suited to viewers who want something light between heavier series. With 13 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Doga Kobo is the studio behind Mangirl!, and its direction shapes everything from character design to motion. The comedy focus matters here: timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. With a 5.6/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Kanako Miyamoto as Hana Sasayama, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 2013, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
