Buddy Complex English Sub & Dub

About Buddy Complex

Here is what Buddy Complex (バディ・コンプレックス) is about, retold in plain terms: an action, drama and mecha anime by Sunrise (2014). What the story covers: On the first day back after summer break, high-school pupil Aoba is attacked by a giant robot that appears out of the sky. As he's pursued through the city, his classmate Hina appears in a robot of her own.

From there, she rescues him, and tells him cryptically that "Dio is waiting for you," before she disappears. This starts Aoba's new life as the pilot of the Free Treaty Alliance against the Great Zogiria Republic.

As an action title, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Aoba Watase and Saori Hayami as Hina Yumihara. This one is best suited to viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. At 13 episodes in total, it is easy to plan a viewing schedule.

Production & Appeal

Animation is handled by Sunrise, so the studio's house style defines how Buddy Complex looks and moves on screen. Because it leans on action, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Its 6.7/10 score suggests opinions are split, so it suits viewers who already like the genre. Voice casting, including Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Aoba Watase, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. It aired in 2014, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
