Utakoi

About Utakoi

Utakoi (超訳百人一首 うた恋い。) blends comedy and romance by TYO Animations (2012). Below is a fresh retelling of what the story is about. At its core: Uta Koi tells the "super-liberal interpretation" of the Hyakuninisshu anthology compiled during Japan's Heian period of 100 romantic poems from 100 different poets such as The Tale of Genji's Murasaki Shikibu.

In a comedy series like this, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Voice work is led by Yuuki Kaji as Sadaie Fujiwara no and Saori Hayami as Takaiko Fujiwara no.

Think of it as a pick for viewers who want something light between heavier series. The run is 13 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.
