About A Certain Dark Item
Here is what A Certain Dark Item (とある暗部の少女共棲) is about, retold in plain terms: an action and sci-fi anime by J.C.STAFF (2026). In short: This is a story of four girls living in the "Dark Side" of Academy City. In Academy City where "ESP" has been recognized as a general science.

In an action series like this, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Frenda Seivelun (Maaya Uchida) and Shizuri Mugino (Ami Koshimizu) are two of the characters you will meet early. If you count yourself among viewers who like fast, high-impact fights, put it on your list. With 5 episodes so far, there is enough room for the story to develop.
Production & Appeal
J.C.STAFF is the studio behind A Certain Dark Item, and its direction shapes everything from character design to motion. The action focus matters here: fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. With a 6.7/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Maaya Uchida as Frenda Seivelun, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 2026, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
