Gatchaman Crowds

About Gatchaman Crowds

Gatchaman Crowds (ガッチャマン クラウズ) arrives as an action anime by Tatsunoko Production (2013), and the premise is easy to summarize. In short: The story is set in Japan in the early summer of 2015. 180,000 people live in Tachikawa Town, the "second metropolis" of the Tokyo area.

More of the story: Among them are "Gatchaman"—warriors who fight in special reinforced suits powered by "NOTE," the manifestation of special spiritual gifts in living beings. A council has scouted a group of individuals with latent powers to protect Earth from alien criminals. In recent years, the council has assigned Gatchaman warriors to deal with the unexplained entity known as "MESS."

In an action series like this, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Mamoru Miyano as Berg Katze and Maaya Uchida as Hajime Ichinose. This one is best suited to viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. With 12 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.
