Servant x Service

About Servant x Service

Servant x Service (サーバント×サービス) arrives as a comedy anime by A-1 Pictures (2013), and the premise is easy to summarize. The setup: Frustrating, insufficient, and irritating is how most citizens would describe civil servants. However, three new employees are about to discover what really happens behind the scenes.

Next up: Lucy Yamagami, bent on revenge against the civil servant who allowed her comically long name to be put on her birth certificate; Yutaka Hasebe, an easygoing guy always on the lookout for a place to slack off; and Saya Miyoshi. They are supposed to be trained by Taishi Ichimiya, but he has no idea how to do so, even though he has worked there for eight years. With an incompetent senior colleague and unfavorable confrontations with clients, the trio starts to lose faith in their chosen occupation but encourage each other to do their best.

With comedy at the core, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Voice work is led by Ai Kayano as Lucy Yamagami and Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Yutaka Hasebe. Think of it as a pick for viewers who want something light between heavier series. With 13 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.
