Diabolik Lovers

About Diabolik Lovers

Here is what Diabolik Lovers is about, retold in plain terms: a drama, horror and romance anime by ZEXCS (2013). What the story covers: Komori Yui is an optimistic young lady that has a strong connection with her father. When he allegedly has to travel for work purposes, Yui is sent to what she thinks is the residence of some distant family members.

Along the way, she is immediately greeted by six strange young gentlemen, the Sakamaki brothers, all of whom want one thing from Yui--her blood. Yui has to learn to adapt to life while being a constant target of six forceful vampires, as well as uncover Sakamaki family secrets and information about her role and identity.

With drama at the core, character writing and emotional payoff matter more than spectacle. Yui Komori (Rie Suegara) and Ayato Sakamaki (Hikaru Midorikawa) are two of the characters you will meet early. If you count yourself among viewers who prefer story and feelings over flashy action, put it on your list. With 12 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Animation is handled by ZEXCS, so the studio's house style defines how Diabolik Lovers looks and moves on screen. The drama focus matters here: character writing and emotional payoff matter more than spectacle. With a 4.6/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Rie Suegara as Yui Komori, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. It aired in 2013, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
