The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases

About The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases

Meet The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases (出来損ないと呼ばれた元英雄は、実家から追放されたので好き勝手に生きることにした), an action, adventure and fantasy anime by Studio DEEN and Marvy Jack (2024). Here is the premise in a nutshell. At its core: "I can finally go search for the peaceful life I've been looking forward to since my past life. Allen, a boy called a failure because he was not blessed with a "Gift" from god, is actually a former hero who still has the memories and gifts of his past life?!

Beyond that: Using his banishment from his family's duchy as an excuse, Allen is about to start a carefree adventure to do whatever he wants when he comes across an attempt on the life of his ex-fiancée...?! The former hero longs to live a relaxing life this time around, but the heroic fantasy life he never wanted is about to begin!

As an action title, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Shouta Aoi as Allen and Minami Kurisaka as Riese. If you count yourself among viewers who like fast, high-impact fights, put it on your list. With 12 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Studio DEEN and Marvy Jack, which means the visual identity of The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases follows that studio's craft. The action focus matters here: fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. With a 4.9/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Shouta Aoi as Allen, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 2024, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
