Photo Kano

About Photo Kano

Photo Kano (フォトカノ) arrives as an ecchi anime by MADHOUSE and Enterbrain (2013), and the premise is easy to summarize. The premise: Kazuya, a mild-mannered high school sophomore coming to the end of a very average summer break, receives a digital single lens reflex camera as a gift. His nerdy fascination with its design soon turns to wonder when he realizes this little gadget could really give his social life a shot in the arm!

As an ecchi title, fan-service and comedy are mixed into the main storyline. Haruka Niimi (Kanae Itou) and Kazuya Maeda (Nobunaga Shimazaki) are two of the characters you will meet early.

It will appeal most to mature viewers who are fine with suggestive content. With 13 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with MADHOUSE and Enterbrain, which means the visual identity of Photo Kano follows that studio's craft. The ecchi focus matters here: fan-service and comedy are mixed into the main storyline. With a 5.7/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. On the casting side, Kanae Itou voicing Haruka Niimi gives the lead role a recognizable voice. Released in 2013, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
