Unlimited Psychic Squad

About Unlimited Psychic Squad

Here is what Unlimited Psychic Squad (絶対可憐チルドレン THE UNLIMITED 兵部京介) is about, retold in plain terms: an action and sci-fi anime by Manglobe (2013). At its core: You don’t have to be psychic to know that Hyoubu Kyousuke is trouble waiting to happen, but having psychic gifts of your own may be your only chance if you want to stand against him. One of the most mighty espers on the planet, Hyoubu's incredible range of abilities extends as far as controlling his own aging process.

As things develop, the time is coming, however, when Hyoubu will need to unleash everything he has. Because sometimes it takes a villain to do what heroes can’t, and as the leader of the concealed organization PANDRA, Hyoubu's dedicated his life to fighting those who would entrap, enslave, or kill anyone with psychic powers. Now PANDRA itself is in danger and, to combat that deadly threat, the gloves and limiter are coming off!

As an action title, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Kaoru Akashi (Aya Hirano) and Kouichi Minamoto (Yuuichi Nakamura) are two of the characters you will meet early. Think of it as a pick for viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. With 12 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Manglobe, which means the visual identity of Unlimited Psychic Squad follows that studio's craft. Because it leans on action, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. A 7.2/10 score points to a dependable, well-liked series. Voice casting, including Aya Hirano as Kaoru Akashi, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 2013, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
