A Girl & Her Guard Dog English Sub & Dub

About A Girl & Her Guard Dog

A Girl & Her Guard Dog (お嬢と番犬くん) arrives as a drama anime by project No.9 (2023), and the premise is easy to summarize. The setup: Isaku just aims to live a normal life. But as the granddaughter of a yakuza boss, that’s a pretty tall order.

Soon after, for years, it’s been difficult for Isaku to make allies and find love. She decides to enroll in a high school far from her hometown in hopes of a fresh start. Her plans take an unexpected turn when a worried member of the yakuza, Keiya, enrolls in the same school to protect her.

In a drama series like this, character writing and emotional payoff matter more than spectacle. Voice work is led by Yuuichirou Umehara as Keiya Utou and Akari Kitou as Isaku Senagaki. It will appeal most to viewers who prefer story and feelings over flashy action. At 13 episodes in total, it is easy to plan a viewing schedule.

Production & Appeal

Animation is handled by project No.9, so the studio's house style defines how A Girl & Her Guard Dog looks and moves on screen. The drama focus matters here: character writing and emotional payoff matter more than spectacle. With a 5.2/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser.
