Shinobi no Ittoki

About Shinobi no Ittoki

Shinobi no Ittoki (忍の一時) blends action by TROYCA and TMS Entertainment (2022). Below is a fresh retelling of what the story is about. In short: Ittoki Sakuraba was an ordinary learner, until his life was turned upside down! He comes across out that he is the 19th heir of the famous Iga Ninjas.

From there, the Iga needs to try to defend what is theirs from the Koga, a rivaling clan seeking to end Ittoki’s life. Ittoki is left with no choice but to become a shinobi that’s capable enough to not only protect himself, but also his village. Now a student at Kokuten Ninja Academy, a high school specializing in shinobi techniques, Ittoki learns the way of the modern-day ninja, equipped with high-tech suits and gadgets.

As an action title, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Tokisada Kaga (Katsuyuki Konishi) and Kousetsu (Haruka Shiraishi) are two of the characters you will meet early. This one is best suited to viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. With 12 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Animation is handled by TROYCA and TMS Entertainment, so the studio's house style defines how Shinobi no Ittoki looks and moves on screen. Within the action category, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. With a 5.8/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. On the casting side, Katsuyuki Konishi voicing Tokisada Kaga gives the lead role a recognizable voice. Released in 2022, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
