Macross 7 Encore

About Macross 7 Encore

Here is what Macross 7 Encore (マクロス7アンコール) is about, retold in plain terms: an action, comedy and drama anime by Ashi Productions (1995). At its core: Three unbroadcasted episodes of the Macross 7 series. In "Fleet of the Strongest Women," the Macross 7 fleet encounters a rogue Meltrandi fleet led by an old rival of Millia.

Next up: "On Stage" focuses on Ray's past as a fighter pilot, how he first met Basara, and how they formed Fire Bomber. In "Which One Do You Love," when Millia falls ill, she feels her life expectancy is running short and attempts to have Mylene engaged to Basara.

As an action title, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Mylene Flare Jenius (Tomo Sakurai) and Basara Nekki (Nobutoshi Kanna) are two of the characters you will meet early. If you count yourself among viewers who like fast, high-impact fights, put it on your list. The run is 3 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Ashi Productions, which means the visual identity of Macross 7 Encore follows that studio's craft. The action focus matters here: fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. With a 6.8/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Tomo Sakurai as Mylene Flare Jenius, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 1995, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
