Luoyang

About Luoyang

Here is what Luoyang (md 风起洛阳之神机少年) is about, retold in plain terms: an action and fantasy anime by CHOSEN (2021). The setup: During the Wu Zhou period, Wu Zetian's imperial examination system severely hindered the interests of the traditional aristocrats. They were prepared to prevent Wu Zetian from ascending the throne.

As things develop, the protagonist Pei Kun came to the divine town Luoyang and was involved in the conspiracy of Chun Qiudao. Through a series of accidents, he tears apart this huge conspiracy.

In an action series like this, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. This one is best suited to viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. The run is 16 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with CHOSEN, which means the visual identity of Luoyang follows that studio's craft. The action focus matters here: fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Released in 2021, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
