Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2199

About Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2199

Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2199 (宇宙戦艦ヤマト2199) blends action, drama and sci-fi by Xebec and AIC (2012). Below is a fresh retelling of what the story is about. What the story covers: The year is 2199. The human race has been crushed in their war with the Gamilos, driven into underground cities by the invader's assault.

Another thread: Scientists estimate they have only a year left. The young officers Susumu Kodai and Daisuke Shima receive an unexplained capsule from a ship that made an emergency landing on Mars and return with it to Earth. It contains humanity's last hope: the planet Iscandar on the other side of the Magellan Galaxy has the technology to defeat the Gamilos and restore the planet.

As an action title, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Susumu Kodai (Daisuke Ono) and Juzo Okita (Takayuki Sugou) are two of the characters you will meet early. If you count yourself among viewers who like fast, high-impact fights, put it on your list. The run is 26 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.
