DECA-DENCE

About DECA-DENCE

If you are hunting for a new action series, DECA-DENCE (デカダンス) deserves a look (2020). The setup goes like this. What the story covers: Many years have passed since humanity was driven to the brink of extinction by the sudden emergence of the unknown life forms Gadoll. Those humans that survived now dwell in a 3000 meter-high mobile fortress Deca-dence built to protect themselves from the Gadoll threat.

Another thread: Denizens of Deca-dence fall into two categories: Gears, warriors who fight the Gadoll daily, and Tankers, those without the skills to confront. One day, Natsume, a Tanker girl who dreams of becoming a Gear runs into surly Kaburagi, an armor repairman of Deca-dence. This chance meeting between the seemingly two opposites, the girl with a positive attitude who never gives up on her dreams and the realist who has given up on his, will in time shake the future course of this world.

As an action title, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Natsume (Tomori Kusunoki) and Kaburagi (Katsuyuki Konishi) are two of the characters you will meet early. Think of it as a pick for viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. With 12 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.
