BLOOD-C

About BLOOD-C

BLOOD-C blends action, supernatural and school by Production I.G (2011). Below is a fresh retelling of what the story is about. At its core: Peaceful schoolgirl by day, fearsome monster slayer by night, Saya Kisaragi is leading a split life. Equipped with a ceremonial sword given to her by her father for sacred tasks, she vanquishes every monster who dares threaten her quiet little village.

Another thread: All too soon, Saya's reality and everything she believes to be true is tested, when she overhears the monsters speak of a broken covenant—something she knows nothing about. Then, unexpectedly, a strange dog appears; it asks her to whom she promised to protect the village, curious as to what would happen if she were to break that promise. Tormented by unexplainable visions and her realm unraveling around her, we travel with Saya through her struggle to find a way to the truth in a village where nothing is as it seems.

As an action title, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. If you count yourself among viewers who like fast, high-impact fights, put it on your list.

Production & Appeal

Production I.G is the studio behind BLOOD-C, and its direction shapes everything from character design to motion. The action focus matters here: fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. With a 6.6/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. It aired in 2011, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
