Chidori RSC

About Chidori RSC

If you are hunting for a new comedy series, Chidori RSC (ライフル・イズ・ビューティフル) deserves a look (2019). The setup goes like this. What the story covers: Kokura Hikari is a first-year high school girl who loves rifle shooting. She entered Chidori High School because it had a shooting club, but finds that the club had been disbanded.

From there, she had only one day to find enough members to reform the club, but luckily was able to find three other first-year girls who she had met at a competition in middle school. Thus kicks off the daily activities of the Chidori High Shooting Club.

In a comedy series like this, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Voice work is led by Saki Minami as Erika Meinohama and Akane Kumada as Izumi Shibusawa. It will appeal most to viewers who want something light between heavier series. With 12 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Studio 3Hz, which means the visual identity of Chidori RSC follows that studio's craft. Because it leans on comedy, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. With a 5.7/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Saki Minami as Erika Meinohama, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 2019, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
