To Heart

About To Heart

If you are hunting for a new drama series, To Heart (ToHeart) deserves a look (1999). The setup goes like this. At its core: For as long as Akari can remember, she and Hiroyuki have always been companions. But with time, everything changes, and her feelings have turned into something more.

Soon after, as a new semester of high school starts, will the two childhood allies come closer together or drift further apart? Join Hiroyuki, Akari and all their friends - the bubbly Shiho, the quiet Serika, the lovely Kotone, and more - in this heartwarming tale of love, relationships and friendship!

As a drama title, character writing and emotional payoff matter more than spectacle. Multi HMX-12 (Yui Horie) and Akari Kamigishi (Ayako Kawasumi) are two of the characters you will meet early. If you count yourself among viewers who prefer story and feelings over flashy action, put it on your list. With 13 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with OLM, which means the visual identity of To Heart follows that studio's craft. The drama focus matters here: character writing and emotional payoff matter more than spectacle. Its 6.4/10 score suggests opinions are split, so it suits viewers who already like the genre. Voice casting, including Yui Horie as Multi HMX-12, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. It aired in 1999, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
