Mirai

About Mirai

Mirai (未来のミライ) blends adventure, comedy and drama by Studio Chizu (2018). Below is a fresh retelling of what the story is about. The setup: One day, Kun’s mother brings home a new family member. For the four-year-old boy, joy fast turns to disappointment when the little sister replaces her brother as the center of attention.

As things develop, the boy can’t bring himself to accept her as his sister. Things turn magical when, with an unexplained garden as his gateway, the boy encounters his mother as a little girl and his great-grandfather as a young man. These experiences change how he sees the realm and help him grow into the big brother he was meant to be.

With adventure at the core, exploration, new locations and a steady sense of momentum drive the story. Otou-san (Gen Hoshino) and Okaa-san (Kumiko Asou) are two of the characters you will meet early. If you count yourself among anyone who enjoys travel-the-world storytelling, put it on your list. With 1 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Animation is handled by Studio Chizu, so the studio's house style defines how Mirai looks and moves on screen. The adventure focus matters here: exploration, new locations and a steady sense of momentum drive the story. At 7.1/10 it earns a solid reception, a safe pick for fans of the genre. Voice casting, including Gen Hoshino as Otou-san, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. It aired in 2018, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
